Boy howdy! The good old days were mostly hard work and bad food.Thank goodness for adequate food regulations
Tomorrow's headline: Beef Shortage! Food prices double!
I sure hope this isn’t the beginning of a mass cow culling.
What’s strange to me is that they didn’t catch it until it was almost processed into hamburger. Talk about last minute!

If said cow ever sees this, you're going to get the horns, Trav.I don't have to go to SC I have a mad cow right here in the house.
What about food regulations for livestock? BSE originates from feeding animal-derived feed additives like meat and bone meal that arere contaminated with BSE. BSE is a prion disease very similar to scrapies and scrapies are quite possibly the origin of BSE. Grass-fed cattle can't contract BSE and is safe to eat.Thank goodness for adequate food regulations
As a matter of fact, it's been illegal in the United States to feed ruminants animal based proteins since 1997. This applies to imported beef as well. What about food regulations for livestock? That's my point. Regulations work only if adhered to. It seems unlikely to me that BSE found a new path to infecting cattle. I also doubt cows have started munching on dead sheep. Will be interesting to see to what cause this outbreak can be traced back.As a matter of fact, it's been illegal in the United States to feed ruminants animal based proteins since 1997. I wonder how one would go about disinfecting a packing plant from a protein that can "survive" in an autoclave?
