Costco: stores open for exec. tier 1 hr early, starting Jun 30

Wrong.
From the Costco website:

When to expect a 2% Reward Certificate:

The 2% Reward Certificate is mailed with the renewal notice approximately two months prior to the member’s annual renewal date. A member must be a paid Executive Member at the time the Reward is issued to receive the certificate. Members who reverse their Executive status will lose all rewards accumulated. Rewards are not prorated.

Oh I know what it says. I am telling you my experience. I have been offered cash for years now, for both the Costco reward and Citi Costco card.
I can also have the Citi Costco card sent to my checking account, all online. Click-click-click. Pretty sweet deal.

No, you stated, "Costco offers cash to redeem the coupon, at least around here."

Their policy states otherwise or perhaps you're a special member? I just know that the few years I renewed with the Executive membership, a voucher resembling a check for $60 was mailed to us.
Although, I do believe if you use the voucher to pay for a $5 cartoon of milk, for example, the cashier will give you $55 cash for change.

The Visa card rewards are different. It's a cash back card for purchases from Costco or almost anywhere else just like any cash back card.

I'm just telling you my experience. And yes, they have offered me cash for years. In fact.they advised me to use my card to get the points and get cash for full value of the certificate because if I paid with the certificate I would not get points.

Again, just my experience.

When I had my membership, it was a Business membership. Yeah, you could get in before those that didn't want to pony up for the privilege, but it was still crowded, and going during regular hours was always ridiculously crowded. Wandering around a warehouse store with a thousand other people is not my idea of fun.

Maybe they had a better deal than other places on a few things, but it wasn't enough of an incentive to want to keep the membership, along with the attendant aggravation.

Time is the most valuable commodity to me. So while I might pay a bit more at the closest grocery store for some things, I can get in and out quickly and on to other things I'd rather do, without wading through a sea of humanity. I feel the same when I see the ridiculous lines at the gas pumps.

On Sat or Sun I’m at Publix at 7 AM waiting for the door to open. I see the same 5-6 shoppers weekly waiting for the doors to open.

Very dumb for Costco to open so late when people have want to get this chore out of the way ASAP.

I’m also not waiting to get gas and save $1 per fill up.

You're definitely special.

I get a $1 per gallon discount from the uncrowded grocery store I shop at. Never a line at those gas pumps either.

I went to Costco a couple days ago and talked to one of the representatives. I was told they will sell a lot more upgrades to executive memberships. That's fine with me since the Costco stock that I have has increased nicely!

Apparently in these parts, it’s going to be a net negative. Most Costco stores are open at 9 AM to all members (or those getting access for the pharmacy or alcohol) and as such they’re going to move that to 10 AM so that Executive members have that early start at 9 AM.

The change, which is limited to stores in the United States, lets Executive members start shopping an hour earlier than the store typically opens — at 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m., Costco announced in a June 11 social media post. Here’s the rub: Many Costco stores, including all of the warehouses in the Bay Area, already open at 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday.
When someone brought that up on Instagram, Costco responded that these locations will reserve 9-10 a.m. for Executive members only, beginning June 30.
“All members will be welcome to shop starting at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday and Sunday and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday,” Costco wrote on Instagram.

This co lays the smackdown. Wife needed new eyeglasses thought they’d be cheap at Warby. Their house brand $525.

Go to Costco thinking it’d be a scam. They have Gucci, Oakley, Ray Ban at good prices. Sure. But the lenses will be a rip off.
Right? Wrong. Lenses $132.99 incl all, blue light, scratch, uv, reflective, etc. $233 first pair and $162 second pair. Both pairs cost about $130 less than one pair at Warby.

No silly membership store making shopping a chore.

We had the same experience, we laugh when we get a lencrafters mailing at home; the pricing difference is absurd and I've never felt like my Costco glasses were less; quite the opposite.

We've done the executive membership for years and the rebate has always paid for the membership and then some, savings hundreds on other items is just icing.

I think of Costco as a 312 bil dollar gorilla. It looks after its members and believe it or not business partners (Amex disagrees) and everyone wins. Shhhhhhhhhhh! Even their car buying service isn’t a scam and I thought it would be! Don’t let the secret out, there won’t be enough discounting and elimination of dealer add ons to go around!!
