Costco bringing back Coke products to food court

Because it basically came down to the low bid.
Especially important when it comes down to maintaining the loss leader, such as the dog and soda deal.
Exactly. Its also about the volume. If split, then Coke will only get about 70% of the volume, and Pepsi gets 30%.
If you are selling cheap, you can make some of the profit back on volume, and Costco numbers are huge:

"Costco’s food courts are a big get for Coca-Cola. In 2024, Costco sold 229 million hot dog-and-soda combos, an increase from nearly 200 million in 2023. That’s in addition to customers buying a 20-ounce drink on its own or with other food options."
(Seattle Times)

They said it was due to a lower priced contract negotiation. I wish big corporations like Costco would go the all-natural route and highlight companies like Maine Root or Jones Soda Co all natural cola products.
Costco actually does that a lot for products they sell, and they carry specialty sodas like Olipop and Poppi...but not in the Food Court....that hotdog deal is a non starter for the $1.50 target. Expensive boutique sodas are not going to cut it.

I don't drink soda much, only when I have my rum and coke.
Does Costco actually sell both Coke and Pepsi in there bulk isles? I shop at Costco, just never buy that stuff.
I'm not a big soda drinker either, so I rarely venture down the aisle where the soda drinks are. But from what I recall, I believe Costco sells both Coke and Pepsi.

5 gallon box of coke: $50
According to a website, it makes 30 gallons of coke
$1.6/gallon
A 20 oz cup(with no ice) costs about 25 cents.

This was 14 years ago, looks like its $105 today , so 0.28 cents. + Cup + ice..etc I'm sure Costco probably gets them significantly cheaper $70s maybe?

Why is it always one or the other? Why can't places have and offer a choice? Def not in consumer best interests.
Drinking soda is not in a consumer's best interest. It's a train wreck for your body. Should be outlawed, its a death wish and drain on healthcare resources like cigarettes only soda effects even the youngest in our society. 🤔
