I’m waiting for Silverado 2 door sports car or F-150 4 door sedan or sport wagon with a manual transmission. They would fly off the showroom floors like fresh bakery I tell you
There are plenty of other "horsey" names that Ford could have used. You know, just keep the theme going:Well Ford did reuse Maverick with some apparent success.
Look at all the sports car outfit’s I posted doing this … Cry for help ?
Ferrari pauses orders for $397K Purosangue SUV after overwhelming demand
Ferrari unveiled in September the 12-cylinder Purosangue, which the Italian sports car maker prefers to describe as a four-door, four-seater.nypost.com
Or Pony.I keep thinking that the new Ford mini-truck should have been named Pinto, but alas I might be alone there.
"Clydesdale"There are plenty of other "horsey" names that Ford could have used. You know, just keep the theme going:
Appaloosa
Clydesdale
Stallion
and of course Pony.
Or they could have restarted one of their old themes:
Galaxie
Comet
Meteor. And even added a few:
Star
Stardust
Starlight
Jupiter
Venus
Neptune
Yeah rightI'm talking about brand dilution at the individual model level (e.g., Mustang, Corvette), not about car companies building SUVs in response to market demand. GM could have imagined a new, unique name for this upcoming vehicle family and left the name Corvette to its original, historically relevant meaning in the car industry: a two-door, two-passenger sports car. Imagine if Porsche had named the Cayenne "911 Highrider."
I see GM's decision as a cry for help because they're milking a legendary name for no good reason whatsoever.
Works with F250s !"Clydesdale"
Just a contemporary version of the Aston Martin "shooting brake" of the 1960s.
That wasn't from the factory. It was one of five or six built by a custom shop in the Los Angeles area. I vaguely recall that one of the car mags, C&D or R&T, did a cover story on the beast.
Despite the GM bashers wishing otherwise …There will be a waiting list for all they can make.
GM needs new leadership if that's the kind of thinking that is going on there.
How about bringing back the SuperSport or SS moniker for a high performance SUV ? And a four door Corvette is blasphemy.
