Hope you’ve all had a great Christmas and that your new year is off to a great start.

Was wondering about a noise (squeak) off the Corolla. It seems to become prominent when the car is placed into “D” (with foot on the brake, noise still comes while car is moving) and goes away, but not completely, when the car is placed into “P” (foot on/off brake) and “N”. Essentially when in drive, the car is under load, hence I can understand why the noise is more prominent then.

Now, I was wondering if it was the water pump. However with the hood open, I heard no noise from that vicinity, rather it was coming from the bottom of the car. Could it be something loose? Banging of a rusted part?

Not sure what it can be, however, would be interested in getting two cents” on the issue. Thanks in advance.

*can’t upload a video for some reason*

Noises are difficult to diagnose on a forum. Without a video, it's pure guess work. You might be best to take it to a trusted shop for diagnosis.

How is it if you rev it in park, or rev it with your foot on the brake in drive?
Reving it in park leads to no noise, same with it being in drive and foot on the brake.

Checked the water pump for leaks, didn’t see any coolant dripping or any bearing noise from the pulleys either.
