Coolant question: OEM Fill vs Maint. thereafter?

I think Dexcool could work in place of Japanese extended life coolant. I wouldn't feel comfortable using it in place of LL on older models. The only potential problem would be that Dexcool can gum up with air and Japanese cars generally don't have pressurised reserviors. Some people get away with it, even GM got away with it most of the time, but not always. I've seen the Dexclone gum up quick.

Bought and used the 50/50 pink.
65k, four years.
Don't care if "I spent too much" because it's an absurd point for me.
I appreciate feedback, but when it comes to money, I don't want or need to hear what anyone thinks of how I spend it.
My car is happy, I am happy.
No disrespect - I appreciate good technical feedback - don't need banking advice :)
I amortize the costs of oil and coolant and spark plugs and it's trivial.

I actually agree with you. If it were my Japanese car I would pay the few dollars more every 4-5 years and get the Japanese EL coolant. Like I said I would not trust Dexcool to not eventually gum up due to most Japanese cars not having a pressurized reservoir.

I don't agree with how the Japanese don't licenses their coolant and ATF to the aftermarket like GM does with Dexcool and Dexron. And I think it kind of violate this intent of Magnuson-Moss, but what are you going to do.

Well, it happens with lots of products these days, and even medications aren't all available in generic form.
I see both sides of it. As a consumer, we want to see choices.
As a CEO, I want to make money for my stockholders...
