Trying to make some sense of all the claims, counter claims. I decided that the best way to start was to do a compilation of the VOAs here and elsewhere.

After checking the facts and figures, it still just puts one more check in the box for a well formulated oil vs. a poor formulation + additive in my book.

Scan the "Science and Technology of Oils and Lubricant Additives" section of BITOG if you want to learn about oil additives and formulations of lubricants.

I think this thread is dedicated to "off-the-shelf" oil additives consumers purchase over the counter, not additive packages that blenders and oil companies use in formulations.

Correct, This is only about after-market additives
The file I announced is merely a running compilation to help me get my mind around the various additives out there. It is offered as is for everyone's use or non-use. The oil data is also for the same reason, but there is no attempt at being comprehensive, or insightful, just collecting data for background.
