Needed to get some very specific oil for the Caprice.

Holden wanted $48.95 for 118ml - $400/quart basically.

Ended up getting 3 bottles delivered for the same price from the states (thanks ZZ Performance).

Open the (brilliant) packaging, and the bottles have an ingredients list on them.

Fatty Acids, C5-10, esters with dipentaeryhthrol-Phosphoric Acid (CAS 70983-72-1); and
(1,1-dimethyl) phenyl diphenylester (CAS56803-37-3)

Now I know what's in it, it still doesn't tell me how to make it.

looks like the same stuff I got from a Chevy Dealership for $16 for 4 ounces. Funny part is, our Eaton charger takes 5.5 ounces to fill it up. After taking the nose off the charger for inspection, I decided next time I will just use some gear lube from Redline.....there is only a couple gears in there.

Yea, wish I knew what acceptable substitutes were for that Eaton, I have used the GM stuff and also used plain old Amsoil 0W30 motor oil and that also worked fine until I traded the car. Why is the GM stuff so expensive and what is an acceptable substitute. Never could find out

I never found any info on what would be a good substitute. Maybe this would be a good question molakule lol

The CAS numbers listed are for a Dipentaerythritol (DiPE) type polyol ester, and a phosphate anti-wear additive. A similar DiPE ester is available from Hatco (Hatcol 2926) and Hercules (Hercolube F).

There may be other ingredients that are not required to be listed, such as anti-oxidants and corrosion inhibitors. Other finished oils based on DiPE esters and formulated with phosphate anti-wear, anti-oxidants, and corrosion inhibitors are available.

Needed $100 worth for an oil change, and got 2 changes for the price of an Aussie bottle.

Tom, was thinking a GT oil might meet the bill, thanks for the input.

It's lubricating 2 gears, 4 bearings, 3 seals, and a polymer based coupler.
