Another variation of the same theme. If it hunts between OD and the next lower gear, turn off OD no matter where you are driving until you are driving under conditions that won't cause that.

Why do you need to turn off OD in town? The trans will never hit OD anyway at lower speeds, or am I missing something? All OD is is another gear.

i prefer to have o/d off in the city too. i like having higher RPM's especially in this bitter cold. when i have o/d on, my lex will shift to 4th pretty low... like, 40 km/h. my cruising RPM's is usually 1600 or so. with O/D off, it will stay in 3rd and hold around 2000 RPM's cruising.
