Mods and all,

I just installed
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2021/
in Firefox.

So far it has eliminated the problems with BITOG requiring a horizontal scroll to read posts in some threads.

Edit:

Thanks to a "
Code:
" post by JHZR2 that included lines long enough to choke Linda Lovelace, I have found out it's not perfect, but it's a lot better than nothing. Internet Exploder doesn't do any better on big "[code]" blocks

Well, in terms of links ..mostly it can be avoided if people just took the time to type in "link" when offered when using the URL button. It doesn't happen that often ..but since it's unnecessary ..it is annoying as heck.

I've just installed this add-on.

Yes, if JHRZ had just added a couple of RETURNS in that paste it would have been much easier to view.

LOL, you had issues with that too?

I pasted in at first, and it was WAAAY wide... I added a few returns in there, and it fit fine on my screen. I thought all was well.

I guess the issue is screen resolution - I have a standard aspect ratio monitor, but it is 1400x1050, whereas most monitors are 1024x768 or some similar res... I think thats the problem!

Sorry for not putting more returns in!

I can make it fit on the screen of my monitor without scrolling too. Problem is, the text is so small then that I need a magnifying glass to read it...I would rather scroll.

We're learning about making more legible posts. I'm sure I've been guilty of causing horizontal scroll problems in the past, so this is a useful thread.

For sure!!! I was wondering about why the code shrunk stuff so much... I dont recall that it used to do this in the past.

You should have seen the text when I first posted it... it was the same text size, and so far spread horizontally that it was at least 3-4 pages wide!

Thanks.

However, I still like Internet Explorer 7.0 better than FireFox due to the better RSS feed.

I just wished that BITOG had a RSS feed.

I never knew what it was ...but now that I do ..I see no need for it on BITOG and can't figure out what it would do to enhance my enjoyment of the site. RSS feed Sounds like an "internet at the speed of life" utility. If you've ever conversed with The Critic via IM ..you would know that he has a wpm rate that would put any steno pool typist to shame.
