Classic movies

Thanks for that list Donald. Some good flicks on there that I haven't thought about as I'm catching up on movie watching lately. I saw Great Escape this past weekend. Haven't seen that one since I was about 12 yo.

Lately I saw Bridge on the River Kwai, Ten Commandments, Ben Hur and a few others.

Add The Godfather ( first one) and Apollo 13 to that list. I was about 14 yo when the Apollo 13 event happened and remember being horrified by the thought that the astronauts might be lost and die in outer space. Amazing how NASA got them safely back home.

Thought of the second you mentioned when I read the thread title.
I throw in "Wizard of Oz", "It's a Wonderful Life" and the far more recent "Life of Brian" and "Alien".

The Loved One, mid 60s B&W film "guaranteed to offend everyone", it was a send-up of Southern California culture and the funeral/cemetery trade. Great cameos, and Jonathan Winters plays multiple roles. Liberace played his only non-musical movie role of his life as Mr Starker the casket salesman. Rod Steiger is WILD as Mr. Joyboy the embalmer.

Good ones especially the Day the earth stood still, Bamboo saucer was good too. Not all just movies but shows like Man and Challenge was good, Air Power, Whirly Birds etc.
