Have been searching but cannot find any real clear choice, im running a nissan td42 (4.2L idi diesel) is fully worked with big turbo, racing injector pump etc etc, (no emissions controls and fuel over here is low sulphur) and gets bit of a thrashing. Usually run ci+ mineral 15w40 but have been reading into the ck4 rated oil and see that its backward compatiable and is ment to be abit better of an oil. Oil changes with new filters every 10k kms.

Really what im asking is there much of a performance/oci/protection gain to be had with running a ck4 oil over a ci4+ in my applicstion (at pretty much the same cost between oils)?

And in your opinion what oil would you suggest?

They should perform pretty similarly, CK4 typically has less old school antiwear and antioxidant additives and has more lower ash additives, CK-4 is fine for any 4 stroke diesel engine, new or old, as long as you're running Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel.
