Hey K1XV!!!
quote:

The Beretta firearms company actually sued GM over its unauthorized use of Beretta for a Chevy car. And given the poor quality of that car, not only were they using the name without authority, they were also destroying the value of the name by associating it with a substandard product.

If Baretta sued GM for quality issues and branding, they had a nerve. Remember the slide-block failures from their 92F 9MM semi-auto handguns all through the late 80s? That was after they sold the Italian facilites to Taurus of Brazil and started making the 9MM here in preparation for the push to get the U.S. military contract to replace the .45. A lot of military, law enforcement and civilian users are missing their original front teeth from eating the runaway slide off those 9MM semi-autos.

As for branding and political correctness, speaking of Redskins, there is a yearly whine about the name of the NFL Redskins here in Washington (No. Va., actually, and they play their games in Md.). Danny Snyder isn't giving up THAT brand, that's for sure!

As for firearms names, at the height of the crack cocaine wars in the WDC area of the early-to-mid 1990's, they changed the name of our beloved NBA Washington Bullets to the Wizards out of some idea that the name of Bullets was contributing to an attitude of acceptance regarding the use and mis-use of firearms in our fair Capitol city.

Idiots..
