Chrysler 2.0 breather hose question

Hi,

My mother has a 97 plymouth breeze that I help maintain, by doing oil changes, etc. All in all it has been a great car, getting good mileage and being very reliable.

The car has the 2.0L engine that is the same as in the neon, etc. There is one thing that is wrong on it that Id like assistance with.

On the valve cover itself, near where the ingition setup is mounted, there is a breather hose. it attaches to a silver nipple that is attached to the valve cover itself. This hose is develloping a small tear in it. Looks like it is just getting old and starting to tear at the end.

I havent had much of a chance to check over the whole network of breather hoses. Can anyone tell me where this goes to (I assume some PCV valve and then the intake?), and if the part is a dealer only molded hose, or just some breather hose that I can buy. Also, if you know the diameter, id greatly appreciate it.

Im going to see my parents this weekend, and Id like to fix this. i want to be prepared in advance though...

I am not that familiar with your engine. But on my 3.5 Dodge Intrepid I had two hoses that deterioated over time. They had a few tight turns in them. As you well know the PVC system is important. I actually went to the dealer to buy exact replacements. A few dollars more but I have the peice of mind that my PVC inlet and outlet hoses are working properly.
