I'm the process of building my '94 Honda Elite (Dio). This info might not mean anything to most people here but the build is as follows

-Polini Corsa 72cc BBK (this is a ported cast cylinder with aluminum head)
-Naruka manifold
-Polini 24mm carb
-Oil injection removed
-Expansion pipe
-CVT work. Variator, clutch, secondary final drrive gears.

This is an aircooled engine which should be running in the 10-11.5k range with head temp 280-350 deg.

I am trying to decide on running Amsoil Interceptor or Dominator at 32:1

With the previous build I was running Interceptor using the oil injection.

Given RPM, Temp, Etc, what would be the better choice to run? I've heard the Dominator burns s little dirtier than the Interceptor which is not necessarily a big concern of mine. In don't expect to put 1000's of miles on it each year, but I want to extend piston and ring life as long as possible.

Any suggestions or help?

Based on them touting the Interceptor leaning toward keeping power valves clean I would guess that there is more solvent in the Interceptor.

The better temperature and load bearing may be with the Dominator. At 32:1 you're burning a lot of oil and oil makes more heat than gas.

That's another thing I've been trying to learn more about. Amsoil recommends 50:1 with both oils. Back in the day when I rode dirt bikes, 32:1 was kind of the rule of thumb. Other oil companies recommend running 32:1 with their oils, and it seems to be the general rule in the scotter community that 32:1 is the way to go. I don't know how much of this though process is based off of old rules, worth of mouth, or actual data. Oils have obviously improved over the years, I don't think that Amsoil will recommend using their oil at 50:1 if it did not provide adequate lubrication. I'm not sure what most people are doing these days, but I'd be fine running at 50:1 if I knew with real data that it is a safe ratio for the engine.

The studies they show were running recommended 50:1 in the Interceptor.

I ran their older generation 2 cycle at 100:1 on both air cooled and water cooled 125 and 250cc machines over 30 years ago. One was a DKW desert bike and the other was an early KX-250 water cooled.

I believe you'll be fine with Interceptor running 50:1 in the motor you spec'd out.
