Chicago Auto Show on opening day?

Opening day and weekends are an absolute ZOO ! Much better to go on a weekday after the opening and opening weekend. Get there when the show opens and see displays before the crowds build later in the day.

Have you actually gone on opening day? I would think that by late afternoon and evening, as people get out of school/work, it gets busier. We're planning to go right at 10am.

I went a few times when I lived in the Chicago area in the 1970s. Weekdays are better for crowds, but you need to plan your time there so you are not leaving during afternoon rush hour. Don't know the exact hours of the show, but if it was me I would get there late morning and not plan to leave until well after rush hour.

I think we'll get there right at 10am and leave by 2pm. The outbound traffic at 2pm is typically pretty light.
