Can anyone tell me how the GM/Chevy dealers do an engine flush? They say they use a machine hook up to flush and fill. Where do they connect the machine, I assume on heater hoses, and is it a good procedure?
Thanks

I have seen machines that "clean" your coolant, they filter it out, then add some fresh back into the mix.

It's not the same as new coolant to me, but better than nothing I suppose.

There is no one way a dealership does it. The factory doesn't dictate how the service is to be performed. Many use a flush machine. Some do not. Even the flush machines don't all function the same.

My Chevy dealer used a BG machine and it did a fantastic job. Cooling system is spotless and the new DEXCOOl is bright red again! The machine took all the old fluid out, ran a cleaner thru the cooling system for a flush, then reinstalled new DEXCOOL in the system. The flush cycle really cleaned out the system, including the heater core. $119.99 and I feel well worth it. Did it on my 2006 Impala SS with just under 30,000 mi. and three years old.
