Chevron vs. Havoline in Moly Content

Does anyone know the exact amount of moly in Chevron Supreme 10w30 vs. Havoline 10w30?

(as in, it's proprietary information) You must also keep in mind that the moly floating around free in the oil has NO bearing (literally) on engine protection. It's the moly that has already bonded to the sliding surfaces that offers short term protection in the event of temporary oil starvation. The excess that floats around is merely ready to take up station in the event something displaces established moly down to "bare" metal. Since the moly layer is only one or two molecules thick, it doesn't take much as an effective reserve. Also keep in mind that there are effective anti-wear substitutes for moly. A particular Castrol forumulation from Germany that no one on BITOG seems to have heard of ("German Castrol" - sure wish someone around BITOG would try this oil and report back his findings...

) has very little moly.

I think they are about the same. I buy and use whichever is cheaper. If I save enough like the 49 cent a gt sales on Chevron Supreme I add an oz per qt of Valvoline VSOT. I don't add it to Havoline but I end up getting that at Walmart in the jug at around 1.50 a gt if I can't get cheaper Chevron.

I don't have Havolines # but Butler labs shows for Chevron about 210 on Moly for 10-30 new and mine in a GM 3.8 at 4000 miles shows 80 without VSOT. 1 gt of redline 10-30 adds 650. You can look at Havoline and Chevron tests to see how much is left in the used oil section. I regard that as the better way to see if you got the moly you wanted.

The Havoline dino I could see new and old looks a little higher new and after its tested with 3000-5000 miles than the Chevron tests. Maybe 300 Moly new 150-200 Moly after 3000 miles. Both are ending up with used tests with Chevron/Havoline signature moly still in the dumped oil.

I quess Havoline has more and I'll keep my add to Chevron strategy since its only a $1.00 an OIC for me on VSOT. If I bought the Havoline I'd add $4.50 an OIC. If I add 1 gt redline I'd add $7.00 an OIC. I do test so I'll see the difference on all three ways eventually.
