MC5k is the best dino! He stated that he was going to do his oci's at 5k so there is NO NEED for those premium filters. A Purolator Classic/Premium or NapaProselect will work fine for 5k oci's!!

I'm pretty sure he did. I had put it on before and it was still leaking after I put it on. And I would think that it wouldn't leak only on one side if it was the valve cover gasket. All of the bolts are torqued the same

1/2 quart in 5k is nothing for leakage.

I'd give Maxlife 10w30 a try. Coming into summer, the 10w30 will be a good viscosity.

Ok, so my manual calls for 5w30, why would upping the viscosity during summer help?

Would it provide extra protection since you don't need to worry about starting in the cold and wouldn't need a thinner weight?

Exactly. If you don't 'need' the '5W' ability of the oil, a '10W' oil is a bith thicker, and a bit more shear-stable, so it will thin less. Not a lot, but some.....
