Found some chevron supreme at walmart. It was on the top shelf like it has no place. The bottle looked a little different. Turned it over and it was labeled GF4. The date on the botle was 08/04/2004. The price was 1.14. (there was one row of 5w30 and on row of 10w30).

I also found this,

the data sheets and msds have changed.

I seriously doubt that Walmart would wait for a product improvement release prior to restocking. They move so much inventory that their motto should be quantity not quality. Could be that whoever represents the Chevron distributor talked to whoever is responsible at Walmart into restocking their product. If you want any market penetration these days, you have to be on Walmart shelves.

My local Walmart I thought wrote off Chevron all together(they carried 10W30 and 10W40).Gone was the oil and along with it it's pricetag.

About a week ago I see 1qt of Chevron 5W30 on the shelf, first time i've ever seen this stuff. All the rest was sold out

Same story here, but no new stock yet. But guess what. During the Chevron 5w30 dry up, I was forced to use Havoline 5w30....and I like it better. The engine is more responsive judging by the seat-o-meter. Oh well, more testing ahead for me I suppose.

Local Wal-mart here in West Texas also had a repleshed row of Chevron 10-30. Looks like they started carrying it again last week. Will check the bottles again for changes.

So how does the Chevron stack up against Motorcraft? They are priced about the same at my local Wally World. However there are more choices with the Motorcraft.

In the Albany, NY area here, I have 4 wal marts within 15 minutes of me. Chevron supreme dissappeared from the shelves a while ago, but now 3 out of the 4 are stocked up again.

Chevron Supreme is fully stocked at our local seacoast Walmart, its a whopping $0.02 more than SuperTech breaking the wallet at $0.90/QT.

I stopped into the Harriman, NY Walmart on my way home last night to see how much Chevron Supreme was on the shelves as per a previous post. Only one row of 5w30. There was a clerk stocking the oil shelves at the time so I asked him why so little and he answered that there is no demand for it. Their big sellers are Pennzoil, Castrol GTX, Quaker State, Castrol Syntec blend and Syntec and Mobil 1. There were 13 cases of Castrol GTX Start Up up on the top storage shelf and the clerk stated that he can't give it away. So they stock and sell what the people want.

Clement, which Wal*Marts? I was at the Wilton/Saratoga one over the weekend and it had no Chevron Supreme.

At the Halfmoon store about 10 days ago and they had some older bottles of 5w30, 10w30 ... no new stuff.

Was at the Latham store a few weeks ago ... saw nuthin'. Haven't been to the Albany and Scotia stores in over a month.

I'll be going past the renovated East Greenbush store this week ... so I'll probably stop in.

East Greenbush has it, Clifton Park has it, Latham just got it in about a week ago. In Clifton Park & Latham, it is on the top 'storage' shelf, in East Greenbush it is on the regular shelves, and the one on Rte 7 in Brunswick doesn't have it.

$1.14/qt

Good Shopping!

Bottles at Wallyworld still said gf-3 - only difference I saw was that they now had a spanish section on the bottom half of the label.

If you guys are having trouble finding Chevron Supreme, do you have Checker Shucks or Kragen stores in your area? They are the biggest retailors of Chevron oils I think. Plus, they have coupon deals in every Sunday paper, at least in my area. I'm heading out as we speak to get two cases of Chevron Supreme for $.89

And, they indeed have GF-4.

I bought some Chevron Supreme 10w30 at my local W.M. the other day and it was just recently put on the shelf. It was still GF-3 SL. It was way up on the top shelf where I needed an associate to get it for me. The Havoline gets prime space on the shelf but the Supreme gets the shaft for some reason. I see many people buying the Super Tech oil so I don't understand why they don't give equal billing to all their "discount" oils?

Unfortunately, I go to walmart way too much. Castrol start up was stocked at the end of the row in the back on the side shelf. not even a dent in stock. must not be selling well at all. For 2.87/qt, most probably don't see the need for this particluar oil either because of the higher price or tired of the castrol marketing gimmicks
