If synthetics did not exist 15W40 Delvacs/Delos would be my default lube of choice

Amen Outrun!!!! I agree with everything said here!

TELL ME ABOUT IT! Even some people that do know a good deal about engine lubrication DO NOT understand HDEO's and their use in gasoline engines, simply relying upon what they think and not what they've actually experienced using a CI-4/SL 15w-40 HDEO that costs only $6/gallon.

I currently run Delo 10w30 in my '99 Suburban 5.7L.

I am tempted to run 15W40 in it because it's relatively cheap and easy to buy a case at Sam's instead of ordering the 10w30 through the local Chevron jobber. Then I read Vetteman's post about how his GM's haven't really liked anything heavier than a 30wt and I'm reconsidering.

Almost out of the 10w30 so I better make my mind up before too long.

You know what, i guess will be doing Delo in the spring and summer, and regular Chevron Supreme in the fall and winter. It doesn't get too cold out in NorCal, and my car kept in a garage most of the time, but it can get cold to a point where windshields have a thin layer of ice here...

Outrun and Jelly: I have also concluded from my personal experience and from all I read on this board that most simply have no clear understanding of the HDEOs. I find that a bit surprising, but I see it very clearly.

agree...

I used 5w-40 Rotella-T Syn (grp3) in a 94 Corsica 2.2L-4cyl. The engine ran just fine...but it was doggy and lost quite a bit of MPG. If your engine is not worn, I would suggest staying with a Xw-30, from experience.

Delo is sold in both 10W-30 and 15W-40 weights, though the 10W-30 is a little harder to find. Some better auto parts stores stock it.

I agree also any dino purchase would be the Delo400 ..what's a few pennies for the price compare to regular dino...And if your interested try using LC/FP with the Delo400...it's like a cheap man's version of synthetic oil and may perform better than with synthetic altogether...Take Delo400 anyday for any other dino price per say!!!

i went to BC Stocking in Richmond today, they are more than happy to sell me 6 gallons of Delo 10W-30 for $31, with 2 week preorder...

AND THEY ARE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM CHEVRON'S RICHMOND REFINERY!!!

Yeah, I just went to a closeout store that my fiend owns here in Tacoma ( he sells many , many items that Cost co cutomers bring back or are damaged in the warehouse) I bought 2 gallons of Delo for $4.00 each ..I think I will go back and buy a few more

The 15w-40 Delo works great in my buddy's 3/4 ton Suburban. Give the 15w-40 a chance in the summer heat.

well, my Auto-RX treat phase will end soon, so i will pick up a gallon of Delo from Wally-World. Another question, i'm going to be changing oil for some Abercrombie chick that abuses her VW New Beetle with the 1.8T engine, can i do Delo in this too, or stick with the $5/quart Mobil 1 Euro Car Formula?
