A forensic analysis of a lubricating oil shows an ester component associated with Boron and phosphorus.

What elements from this analysis would contribute to the element list shown on a low cost analysis report relative to this forensic analysis?

OK, no takers so I'll give the answer.

The additive list that would be seen in a cheap analysis are:

Boron and phoshorus. The ester can't be seen in a cheap analysis.

The Boron would most likely be a phosphorilated borate in an ester.

The Boron would be seen listed by itself as simply "Boron."

The small amount of phosphorus in the phosphorilated borate would add to the "Phos" reading.

The phosphorus from ZDDP these days is about 800ppm, so the phosphorilated borate might add an additional 25ppm to the "Phos" reading.
