Changing Oil - Can I Just Use Ramps?

No, it doesn't HAVE to be hot, but it's better for changing the oil. It'll flow faster and it gives the contaminants less chance to settle before draining.

In your case, I'd recommend doing it cold so you don't burn yourself.

If you just run the front tires up onto a curb, put it in gear, and set the parking brake, the front end should be high enough to get under there and change the oil.

run the engine for 5 minutes idling and it will be warm enough to do a proper oil change.

Ramps are fine, I've never used jackstands with them, I just put on the e-brake. Ramps might make it easier, but on my 4x4 trucks I don't need them. Just the creeper is fine. Again, be sure the ramps are rated for the weight of your truck.

My suggestion. Worked for my mustang, and should give you a lot of clearance for the truck.
