Had a 1991 Range Rover with transmission (ZF mfg.) fluid changed at least every 30K. It's at 188K without a transmission problem.
My 1997 Chevy Tahoe (4L60e trans)needed new torque convertor + rebuild at 135K after only partial fluid change at 100K. Factory spec said to never change fluid.
I know better now better. The Range Rover had a drain plug. I should have put one on the Tahoe when I got it at 36K. Transmission fluid is cheap and easy when doing oil change if drain plug. Then you can drain (no flush) and get out maybe 50% and do it every x2-3 oil change.
Now I have a new CVT (continuously variable trans)and trying to plan for this one.
