I sent in this sample wanting to know a little about the Champion branded 10W-30 that comes with the generator, and also because these little engines without oil filters always have the strangest looking grey, sparkly oil within an hour or two. Honestly, there’s not much to see here, from the add pack or the “wear metals.”

This oil was run for 4 hours on propane. Manual called for the first oil change at 5 hours.

Will be running it with a frankenbrew of whatever I have leftover from my cars depending on the season:
Motul Specific 5w20
Motul X-Clean+ 5w30
Motul X-Clean 5w40
Motul 8100 10w60

After the break-in period… what’s the typical OCI for this engine?

Shocked that it doesn’t have an oil filter by design. 🤨😒😑

50 hour OCI if operating in hot climates or under heavy load. 100 hours otherwise.

As mentioned above, it is a splash lubed oil system. Quite typical for these small engines.

This 79cc engine is less than half the size of my Honda HRX push mower’s engine, which also doesn’t have an oil filter, and has been running for 19 years.

I just posted a rebuilt Kawasaki 17HP UOA in my mower & this new engine break-in is excellent in comparison.
