Castrol Syntrax 75W-90 shelf life?

I was hunting through the shed in the weekend when I found an old 4L bottle of Castrol Syntrax 75W-90 with about 1.5L left in it. I had used in my old 5 speed manual Toyota Levin box at least 6 years ago if not longer. Do you think it's still alright to use? I've got a fresh 1L bottle I acquired I could put with it to add a bit of new. Or should I just bin it?

Sealed, unopened I'm sure it's fine. I've definitely seen seen oils on the shelf older than 6 years. Shake it up to make sure anything that's supposed to be in suspension is (hasn't settled out).

It's been opened (I used 2.5L from it way back when) but it had the lid on it while in storage

There are car's from the 50's, maybe older that are still running their original axle oil. A few years on your shelf ain't nuthin.

No I live in Auckland. Grew up in Northland. Dunedin is a bit cold for my liking but a nice place to visit & you can't beat that central Otago Pinot Noir

looks like there may be two variations of it now, Syntrax Long Life & Syntrax Universal Plus

Carl - I was born in Dunedin and lived there until was about 21. Son No 2 lives in Wanaka and commutes to/from Papua New Guinea as an Aircraft Engineer
