That filter looks good. The new Mobil 1 filters also look good. I hope this is the new normal for oil filters.
Burn test required. I'd bet it's silicone.
You make that sound like a bad thing, or a good thing? Maybe good?
I'm talking about construction aspects. Hard to say what the efficiency is on the Castrol filter - is there any spec from them? Can't be any worse than the Boss.You make that sound like a bad thing, or a good thing? Maybe good?

Up to 99% efficient! Could be @40 microns though.

yes that is what I guessed was the source if you see my above post #4 .
here below is the basic GKI cut open and all the same type markings are there on top of can and side font style plus the base plate is identical and the end caps so looks like too many things to be a coincidence and now you confirmed as well.
I have never actually seen a Castrol oil filter in the wild, but when we decided to go with Mazda vehicles, a lot of the oil change videos on youtube were using them in Mazdas. Not even sure I could get one arounfd the Charlotte, NC area. Not that I need to, quite happy with the PG / Pentius ones I have. Using my stash of Mazda OEM Japan's in wifes CX-5.
