Castrol Magnatec Interval?

I wouldn't be worried about the response from Castrol. They are just protecting themselves.

In the *highly unlikely* scenario where they say go 10k miles, but the manufacturer says 5k, if you did have an engine failure Between 5k and 10k theoretically the manufacturer could refuse to cover it and you could go after Castrol. Extremely unlikely but liability is liability.

I would just change it at the manufacturer stated interval. But you have the option to run an oil analysis if you like and get some data on if you can go longer.

Get a UOA at 5K miles - Magnatec may prove to be an excellent oil for you ! It will either show you can go a bit longer on the OCI or it will indicate you are near the limit . You will then have a base line as to what you can expect with similar oils driven in similar conditions for the same number of miles . Stepping up to a EP Castrol or Mobil 1 oil may buy you a few thousand more miles - but again you won't know without a UOA how your engine handles the oil (or similar D1 / Gen 2 oils like it) .

Yes " Intelligent molecules cling to reduce wear". But for how long? Very subjective and speculative...

Its API SN+ and IlSAC GF5

These were long Maintenance minder oils back when API SM.

But I'd do a UOA.

I'll have UOA data on a different engine with easy driving regime in a few weeks.

I would do 5-6k miles if still under warranty. Or 7500-8500 no longer in warranty. And I would use full synthetic oil, choose your favorite brand at 5w30
