Castrol Magnatec/Edge 0w20?

Called Castrol and after twenty minutes of picking their brains decided since I got a 6:1 ratio of magnatec over edge to just use magnatec full force. I thought mixing would give me the best of both but since they are different beasts I plan to run the magnatec until the dead of winter,run last 4 qts of edge and then just run magnatec. Oil choices are tough and confusing sometimes. Makes sense to not mix b/c edge and magnatec are trying to do the same job,just going seperate ways to complete task on hand. I think magnatec 0w20 will be fine and maybe overkill since many people just use dealer synblend Honda 0w20.

Very few Honda dealer use the Honda syn-blend 0w20. Most use something in bulk that's comparable. Unless you buy the quart bottles from the parts dept.

Idk,I seen voa of edge 0w20 and it had molybdenum and magnatec had 1ppm. Castrol EDGE and Magnatec both Dexos but Castrol EDGE was A1 B1 SCEA,magnatec wasnt. Seemed logical but I think my thinking now makes more sense to just use one or the other in sets. I will use the last qts of Castrol EDGE,just wont buy anymore : )

No, bulk honda is 0w20 synblend. Even has pump and hose from Graco. They only have 5w20, 5w30 synblend /0w20 Full Synthetic in bottles.

Just use a quality oil that meets or exceeds the Mfg requirements. Below freezing temps syn oil may have an advantage. Mixing oil boosts the weaker oil and weakens the stronger oil.

Where are you finding the Magnatec 0w20?
Walmart only has 5w20.

Napa has 0w20 magnatec for 4.79qt and edge 5.29qt

Walmart.com has it, but its considerably more than it's 5w20 brother.

$17.88 for a 5 quart jug on Amazon right now. Tempted to buy a jug or two.

Walmart Magnatec is a bargain currently.

If you don't have an angle on clearance oil, that's the best deal around right now.

The 0w is much higher- that's only for the other versions.

My local Honda dealer said they swapped from Honda branded syn blend 0w-20 to kendall 0w-20. I had already started my own oil changes with M1 long before hearing this from them anyway.
