I have an insane idea floating in my head. Using the same brand and weight oil for my 1994 Nissan 4x4 V-6 and my wife's 2000 Trooper. The truck has 96k on it and uses no oil, the Trooper has 56k and uses 1qt per 3k miles. I live in NC so it rarely gets into the teens but does get darn hot in the summer (100 mark or so) and I do some interstate driving with both. People on this board have good things to say about the Castrol oils so I thought the high mileage formula would work well in both vehicles (one is older and one uses some oil

) I plan on using either 10w-30 or 5w-30 weights and chaanging every 3k-3.5k miles. Any input?

It's a good product and would work well in both of your cars. I would use the 5W30 but others would prefer 10W30. That's up to you. I just like the 5W oils.

Oh, I guess I would not be doing my job if I did not suggest you give the Pennzoil High Mileage oil a try. It to is a very good product.

It should work just fine! Stick with 10W30! I think you should also try Chevron Supreme 10W30! It is a GII+ and is only $1.08 at Walmart if your has it. I do not know if you would get very much extra benifit from it being a high milage formula compared to the cost. Is their some reason you think you need a high milage formula?

The age of the truck led me to believe the heavier weight of the high mileage oil may benefit it and the consumption of the Trooper just plain irritates the crap outta me so I hoped the slighly heavier weight would help there. I like the idea you had though.

Being curious, what is the factory oil spec. for the vehicle?

I think you really need to step it up to a 40-weight oil though...just my thoughts!

I ran the Castrol GTX High Mileage 5w30 in my mom's 94 Probe GT last year and it did pretty well in the UOA I posted, but then again she drives very gently so just about any oil would work well for her.
