The car seems to be enjoying the latest batch of Subaru oil which has traditionally been REALLY thin with a KV40 in the high 30's

Not as thin as my MOTUL in the VW but almost there.

I'm wondering if Idemistu changed their formulation? But that oil is off the table for many of us penny pinchers

as its 6 or 7 dollars a Quart for likely no great advantage.

But what'' s 5 > 10 buck and OCI over 10,000.00 miles? Not much.

I'd love to UOA that, but I won't unless the Wife pays for it!

Problem is it cost as much as an O.C. with premium synthetic oil and filter products.

Not cost effective in any way.

Wait! Now I have numbers that OK an extension, It will keep me out from under her car 1X per year - That's worth something!

Thank you, guys.

Here is a link to a VOA of Castrol Magnatec 5W30 Dexos1-Gen2 from member Researcher in June 2018

https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4790192/

VOA (2018) / UOA (2019)
5W30 / 5W20
D1G2 / D1G2
Moly 60 / 55 (ppm)
Ti 30 / 24
Boron 200 / 55
Si 7 / 14
Fe 2 / 5
Zn 695 / 673
Ca 1063 / 1028
Mg 715 / 689 (ppm)
TBN 7.1 / 2.9
Miles 0 / 8199

Apart from the Boron, which I hear is the only element that significantly depletes from VOA to UOA (don't know why), this looks like the same add pack to me.

And it looks to be doing an excellent job.
