Saw Castrol Edge for sale at Auto Zone today. Why does it say
"US" behind the weight. I.E. "10W-30 US" or "5W-30 US".

Does this mean that this oil is only sold in the US, and if so, is it different than the Edge sold elsewhere?

Right now I'm sticking with German Castrol.

Looks like the US Edge oils are low HTHS energy conserving oils, while Edge oils for the rest of the world are high HTHS non-energy conserving. I suppose this makes sense for the US market, except that US Edge, like most other US synthetics, will be inappropriate for most european vehicles.

Castrol Edge is way over priced for the performance you get. Much better oils out there for a better price and/or the same price!

Everything but GC from Castrol IMO sucks arse for the price!

You can buy Amsoil in your underwear and have it shipped to your door next day still in your underwear without spending money on gas to go get it like edge!

Not easier than this!

Its amazing that you say that without really knowing how this oil will perform.

Exactly, I haven't seen a single UOA nor a VOA and now we know how it performs.

Last I checked, lower viscosity oils don't necessarily cause more wear.

That may be the funniest thing ever posted here.

So that Castrol doesn't mistakenly send it overseas.

lets put it this way.... I have NEVER EVER known anything automobile related that was US specific to be a premium product.. We always get the horses rear end and the short end of the stick.
