Got a rebate coupon from the Mazda dealer where I just bought a CX-5 and it says that 'Castrol Edge Professional OE' is exclusive to new car dealerships.
Gimmick?

It isn't OE as how Amsoil uses OE. It is their premier stuff, top shelf product.

In Europe its named "Castrol Edge Professional" when the car workshops buys it and "Castrol Edge" when its sold at retail stores.

Same oil just different labels

it isn't the same oil in the USA. OE and professional might be similar/same but OE and retail castrol are not the same in the USA.

I do see "Castrol Edge OE" at dealerships, when a car calls for an uncommon spec of synthetic oil. The VW 504/507 oils come to mind. I don't know anything about the more common types of oil sold at dealers and auto part stores, such as the 5w40 oil for most European cars.
