Carquest Premium 84502 order - China & Vietnam

Placed an order for 5 Carquest Premium 84502 oil filters and received some filters made in China and other filters made in Vietnam.

Is there any preference between these two locations. I have seen many of these units made in Vietnam and was concerned that the Chinese versions may be inferior. Am I right?

No, these are both Premium Guard factories from what we can tell. I ordered two cases of filter for my two Mazda's and one was made Vietnam and the other China. Both very good, PG filters.

Some people feel the Vietnamese are somewhat superior to the Chinese. I’ve cut several 84060’s, and the only difference I can tell is the number of inlet holes. The Chinese usually have 6, and the Vietnamese usually have 8. Different sized holes, of course.

My mere opinion? There’s no difference. They are both excellent filters, especially for the money.

I’ve used both versions with absolutely no problems. Both looked great in my C&P’s.
