Just purchased some CARQUEST oil filters. I think they are made by Purolator. I use these on lawn mowers. I used to use napa proselect until there price went up to over 4 bucks a piece. I noticed they are made in china. Does Purolator have a Chinese plant? They look better than a fram filter.

I’m not even sure that filter is a Mann+Hummel/Purolator product. Why not just run a Motorcraft FL-910s? Don’t cheap out on your filters.

The cartridge filter i installed on the VW today said "made in Mexico" (CQ Premium 94024) . My guess is, it depends on the part number.

Champ (Champion Labs) is made in China. “In 2017, the company expanded its presence as a global supplier of quality filters by opening a facility in Shanghai, China.”

Are you sure Champ is not supplying them to CarQuest? Contracts for house brands come and go.

Honestly I have no idea I just read they were made by purolator somewhere. Are champions good? I've never seen that brand in person I don't think it's in my region?

Champion Labs makes the filters that a lot of other companies put their own name on. They also sell Champ brand but they are not so common in stores. They make some good filters.

I prefer to buy WIX filters. The NAPA Gold are made by WIX, and so are the CarQuest Blue (premium). I prefer mine to be the actual WIX branded in the WIX box, that way there’s no guesswork. Because auto parts store do shift to different suppliers for their store brand filters over the years.

One of those "leak tested" Chinese filters with the wrapper around the base plate

Can you take a picture of the base plate? And one of the top too :)

They have some nice weight to them. Definitely heavier than a fram.

CQ Blue USED to be Wix (marked Affinia), then they switched to Fram (when they & Fram were Rank Group), then they became Mann & Hummel (similar to Pure One). This is the first CQ Red I’ve seen that’s “made in China” Premium Guard, PG is usually OK, but they’re definitely Chinese. Date code kind of looks like Purolator.

I’ve got an 84060 on the shelf and it’s made in USA (not that COO matters) but it also doesn’t have any Mann Hummel writing anywhere on the filter nor box.
