Goes to show this can happen just about anywhere. Realize this is the South Carolina Coast - which is pretty much a swamp, so mitigation isn't really even a thing.
1600 acres in one fire near Myrtle Beach. 30% contained now but not long ago it was 0%. Fueled by high winds late last week. I realize that is a small fire compared to out west, but honestly I can't remember a wildfire in coastal Carolina before. I am sure there has been some, but there rare.
