Car rummaged through/ police report impact on insurance rates ?

It could show up on Carfax as a zero claim police report. Just adds to questions if you want to trade it in or sell privately.
If it was my car, I wouldn't report it
I do used cars for a dealership FWIW.

I am up on a hill in a log cabin. Someone in the driveway will have me coming out with the popgun.
I am sort of horror movie scary in my tattered t.v, watching, snack munching cothes at night, so the couple of times this has happened they hightail it pretty quick

Door handle pullers are 50% of the posts on my local next door app...crimes of opportunity.
Yes, our last community was like that. It used to play with my head, maybe because I was from NY.
But everyone in the south Calls it a "break in" when someone opens their unlocked car door and takes something. *LOL* Being I am from NY I consider a "break in" to mean someone broke down a door or window to gain access

Concur, its not a forced entry....you provided the opportunity.
I'm ok with it actually because if not for the low hanging fruit of unlocked doors, windows would be being smashed because drugs demand a certain sum of money daily to support the habit.

Oh wow, I didn't know that was a thing,..thanks.

Where I live, you can report it but elect not to have an incident report generated. It does help with increased patrols, resident awareness (we do put out PSAs) and crime driven patrol statistics. It's the last one that could drive aggregate rates, but should not inpact your individual rate.

Still amazes me that so many people leave their cars unlocked. Most of these crapbirds are opportunist criminals. Locked car, they move to another. Also amazes me the number of folks that leave guns and valuables inside and STILL leave the cars unlocked. My favorite was a lady that left a very expensive Coach bag on her passenger seat with the car unlocked. Then she acted all butt-hurt when I told her the likelihood of recovery was slim. Then she was absolutely outraged when I suggested that simply locking her door would have possibly prevented it. Said she shouldn't HAVE to lock her car, that was what the police were for. To keep thieves from getting in her car .

Yep. Crime of opportunity are very common.

Purse story also happened to my sister in law. Dumb dumb mistake.
