Car and Driver list of best vehicles assembled in the U.S.

Well, thinking about, and doing, are different phases of the operation.

We just bought a new Volvo last month, a plug-in hybrid, which is why the Tesla charger is getting installed, and I need to put a little money back in the checking account before I go buying another car.
You're just being logical again... Sheesh.

Enjoy your new Volvo!

The torch has indeed been passed. And we're passing the torch to a generation largely unwilling to perform (or incapable of performing) DIY maintenance, instead focusing on the aforementioned electronic systems and other peripheral BS

Indeed, and the torch passed might burn them down. A vehicle is a device to get you from one geographical place to another. It cannot propel one into the ethernet.

Interesting about #1 and #3, because I just told the wife about a week ago,..... "I think Cadillac is a dying company."

Before she fell down the Mercedes rabbit hole, Cadillac was her dream car.

The reviews have become pathetic (I really don't care about 'infotainment' systems, USB ports, and cameras), and the most common subject vehicles are almost exclusively very high-dollar and those in which I have zero interest (a modified Porsche for the Dakar Rally? Who gives a ...?).

You obviously didn’t read the Porsche Dakar review (July 2024 issue) by John Phillips - it was funny as hell - I laughed out loud several times! Best C & D article in many years. Yes, I agree, the car itself was absolutely ridiculous and irrelevant, which he did acknowledge.

I love C&D. Used to get the paper magazine, but just read online now. Funny thing, when looking to renew my subscription recently, I struggled to find the link how.

My one beef is that they don't consider long term reliability into their ratings. I don't blame them, mind you, because how can they judge that?

Astro, welcome to the dark side...
Thinking about the Air? Pics or it ain't real. Here's one getting off at our exit off hwy 17 southbound. For that kinda $$, I would hafta drive the Taycan. But big Lucid discounts are available, I hear. Good luck and have fun with it!

I’ve seen a lot around me. The tech seems neat, and I’ve heard good about the batteries.

The risk to me is the pricetag compounded by the Saudi lifeline and stock in the dumps. Could someone get caught with an unsupportable vehicle?

I have price tag limits. When we bought the '18 Model 3 Mid Range, I was at my limit for a car company that was gonna be belly up any day. Probably more like past my limit.

Plus I lend my vehicles out...

Vastly different. Tesla sold nearly 200k cars in 2018. Lucid has been selling a few thousand per year.

I have some fairly rare cars. My Mercedes diesel coupe, and my 350SDs were made in the single digit thousands in their runs, and you can get parts still today. But they built massive numbers of w123 and w126 cars.

Lucid, not so much. That’s the point…
