Can't find my grease locally.

Where to get Valvoline Synpower in tubes? I can get cans at Advance Auto, but have settled for the Durablend tubes (probably fine for my applications)

As well, I am about out of Lubrimatic Marine grease I use on boat trailer and ATV bearings. Nobody in town carries it anymore. Great rated calcium grease. Anybody suggest an available replacement?

If you put your boat trailer in salt water, switch to an aluminum based grease. Far better. ZFor fresh water, calcium is fine. However, Ohio is a bit far from the ocean so I'm sure you are OK!!!!!

How does salt affect the choice of grease?

Loobed brings up a good point. Here up north all our automotive wheel bearings and suspension components are bathed in a salt brine during winter.

At our company, wheel bearings are tested in a salt-mud slurry bath.

The sodium in salt can break the emulsion in certain greases by an ion replacement mechanism. Aluminum based grease are far more resistant to sodium and many marine greases are aluminum based.

Then why aren't all wheel bearing greases and suspension greases aluminum based instead of lithium based greases? For the 50 years I've lived in Michigan, I've always seen the undercarriage of automobiles caked with salt during wintertime.

My understanding is that marine grease is typically calcium based for enhanced water resistance.

If you are in SW Ohio, check at a Parts Plus (Smyth) location. I go a tube there about a year ago.

I found liquid wrench marine grease at Lowe's and was suprised
by it's specs. Not a bad grease for $6, compares to the Lubrimatic.....

I would be comfortable with the Lowes stuff.

I have had great success with calcium sulfonate increasing life of suspension parts. I use it on boat trailer wheel bearings without any issues.

Doing a little research, it appears that the Liquid Wrench Marine grease data sheet matches the sheet for Kendall SHP in grade 2.

The Kendall stuff has worked extremely well in extending tie rod end and ball joint life.
