Canadian Tire (q. for Canadians here)

I noticed that this store has Energy Conserving
written in the API donut on the back of their
10w-40, 20w-50, and 5w-50 motor oils. These oils
are probably not energy conserving types, since
that is normally achieved only by the xw-30's and
Mobil 1 0w-40. I thought the API symbols were
trademarks, and had to be used correctly.

Have any of you noticed this at your local stores?

I asked the API about this, and they
replied saying Canadian Tire had not even
renewed their license for this year. So, not
only are they lying about the "energy conserving"
motor oil, all their house brand oils are
using the API symbols without permission.

This raises warranty questions for people who use
their oils.

What about lawsuits? about misleading labelling to millions of consumers.

Recently I took my alternator to three stores before I found one where the equipment was working.

Begs the question. How do their mechanics test the alternators at the stores where the equipment was not working? I suspect each time the alternator is suspected they simply recommend changing it.
