I've never understood the desire to hang onto "junk".
My wife and I practice and live an uncluttered life. We most certainly have stuff, but we don't hold onto mounds of scrap, parts we may or may never use, oil stashes, paperwork, or other such junk. I have a rule-unless it's a tool of some sort, if I haven't used it in a year it either gets sold, donated or put in the trash. There is currently a box of stuff waiting to go to the Salvation Army half full of unused stuff.
And we can not only walk through our finished basement, but when we move a couple pieces of furniture, my wife and I often practice dancing in the basement.
