1994 Honda Accord EX (Aprox. 94K)
I've used Mobil 1 for the life of the car and one thing I've noticed is rough idle with Mobil 1 5W30 and 0W30. The engine runs outstanding when driven; however, rough idle is sometimes present when stopped at a stoplight, for instance. The car has no oil consumption issues.
I use Mobil 1 0W30 during the brutal winter months. The rough idle is the worst during winter with the 0W30.
I use Mobil 1 5W30 for the rest of the year and the rough idle gets better during the warmer months. The 5W30 causes a slight vibration in the steering wheel during the summer.
I know that Mobil 1 (5W30 & 0W30) is on the thin side for a 30 oil. Should I try a thicker 30 oil like the German Castrol 0W30 or Mobil 1 10W30? Will this reduce my rough idle?
