Copied this from Delo Oil

Quote:
Delo 400 Synthetic SAE 0W-30

Chevron Delo 400 Synthetic heavy duty motor oil is a multipurpose, 100% synthetic lubricant formulated for use in diesel and gasoline engines operating in subzero temperatures. Its excellent low temperature pumpability leads to less wear at start-up and maintains excellent oil circulation once the engine has started, helping to maximize engine life.

If there is any validity to this? I am excited!!!

Thanks!

Sully

Well, unless Larry Moe and Curly stock it, I guess it will be impossible to get around here.

Thanks!

Sully...how many days/nights do y'all have subzero temperatures and the need for low temp pumpability in south Texas?

I live just south of the Canadian border and this oil wouldn't provide any low temp advantages to me.

I see this all the time can anyone please tell me what is the meaning of IIRC? Thanks

LOL... Sub-zero doesn't exist here! I was looking at weight and they say it's 100% synthetic. Don't they have to have at least carrier oils in there?

Both my vehicles spec 5w30. I was thinking of a possible sub for Red Line (high PAO nice add pack) as that has been dropped from most retailers around here.

Sully, what do you want the oil to do for you? Is this for track use or something else that's tough on oil?

RL is ester based with a great add pack, and most parts stores can order it for you.

Yes, but they typically ignore the carrier oil needed for any additives.

All,

I am looking for a severe duty high PAO oil that I can run for a decent EOCI. I worry that I am not keeping the internals of my motors in perfect order. I keep up my cooling system etc., but every time I change the oil in my vehicles (between 3500 and 4500) it seems no matter what oil I use looks/smells like [censored]. I, like many others, want piece-of-mind in this time of drought down here. Dust, dirt, heat and severe driving is the norm here.

mgm13:

I got Red Line at a local PepBoys a long time ago. Seven + years IIRC.

So the search for an awesome oil continues. RP, Mobil1, Amsoil all seem not to like the environment here, at least in my vehicles. I am giving G-Oil a shot (free oil!) and so far it's OK with pep, power, and smoothness.

I was also looking into MTP Thirty-K, Pentosin, and others. Pentosin I can get at local NAPA. RL and MTP I can mail order. MTP is EX-PEN-SIVE!

Maybe I am being a bit obsessive compulsive, but I think I am in a good crowd for that here.

Sully-

1)- You're worried about the high heat in Texas, but these expensive oils will not necessarily protect your engine better than other oils. Your cooling system plays a much bigger role in engine temps than does the type of oil.

2)- Your oil stinks after 4k miles? Get a UOA done, that's the only real way to tell what's going on.

3)- You signed up for the QS 300k guarantee. The only way that is going to be viable is if you actually buy and use their product.

4)- There is no such thing as a magic oil.

For all the Southern New Englanders, Ocean State Oil in Quonset Point RI carries 0W-30 Delo as well as 5W-40. It appears 0W-20 full syn Havoline is on their line card too.....

sullytex, I have to agree with hate2work. In fewer words, you're dramatically over-thinking this. Why do you "need" a PAO? It's been proven over time that Group III oils are every bit as good under almost all reasonable conditions. Any of the "usual suspects"...Pennzoil, Valvoline, Motorcraft, Quaker State, Castrol etc...will give you good service when changed at an interval appropriate for the use the vehicle gets.

You are way overthinking this!! Just use any name oil and filter and change it at a sensible mileage and you will be fine.As far as the smell,It aint perfume.Find other things to worry about.
