I would have relocated it as well. Maybe a little farther away to keep it away from my chickens. But I have nothing against snakes...kept quite a few in my day.

I get snakes all the time being rural. I don't mind them, they're good for rodent control. It's the venomous spiders i don't like. We get these huge hobo spiders which have recluse like venom. They come inside this time of year as the overnight temps are beginning to cool.

I've heard from people who live in areas where they're found that they can actually move fast enough to strike the projectile from the gun. It of course kills them because they don't know what it is.

Is this true?

Cannot stand a bit of mild criticism I suppose.

You've got that right. I can understand it from an evolutionary standpoint, but we humans should know better, being the enlightened apes that we are.

Snakes serve a very important role in nature, as does everything else.

I used to gather eggs on my grandparents farm. Chicken snakes were common and they got hauled off.

In my youth ... I worked and hunted
on south Texas ranches ... plenty used to buzz tails.,

Now, where the camp is ... there are 4 poisonous snakes ... but only a rattlesnake ever comes near the house ...
at a place where friends and family of all ages gather ... not going to tolerate one certain viper ...
They have plenty space as I stated ...

I've never had a western rattler, I've eaten Michigan timber rattlers though, good eating. They are on the small side though and somewhat scarse.

I don't harm them unless I find a rattlers in my sleeping bag with me or some other obvious reason to dispatch one. I have even scooted rattlers out of the road so they won't get smashed.

This gopher is harmless to humans.

Unless you get malnutrition because he ate your breakfast.

And what about the poor, defenseless, harmless to humans gophers?

I relocate the harmless ones and avoid the venomous type, drive around them but leave them to their fate on the road if they decide to hang around.
