Why not? The hydrotreating process is the same with used oil as it is with crude - Group III recycled is still a group III (and therefore synthetic) and I have yet to see an engine specification that states you can only use Group IV or V???
 
I think the 3k mile changes stickers are good for people like my sister. By the time she finally gets around to it she is about 6k-8k in which is right where the manufacture recommends.

If they put a 7,500 mile sticker on her windshield it would be 20k before it was done again...

HA! Your sister sounds like someone who shall remain nameless, but if I know the movie is at 7:30, I say it's at 7. If dinner reservations are at 8 I tell her it's 7:15. It's a freaking disease.
