I'm toying with the idea of using a larger filter on my Saturn. Some other Saturn drivers I know are using a larger filter, but it has a much higher bypass setting -- 30 PSI vs. 8 - 11 PSI for the OEM. They report no problems, and I notice that other comparably sized cars/engines (like the Honda Civic 1.5) spec settings of 20 PSI for their oil filters. Do you think this would be a problem?

I would be reluctant to go up to that high of value. I would have no problem going up to the 17 psi setting. Really just an opinion though. If others have tried it and have no problems-you can certainly consider that.

I vote for avoiding higher bypass pressure. Automakers adjust oil flow, pump size, and pressure when considering higher bypass.
Since you're not using a bigger oil pump and higher psi oil pump regulator, stick with stock or lower PSI filters.

What is your required size and the oversized PN's that are being used?
