Anyone know of a spin-on (non-Trasko) bypass filter with 13/16-16 thread size?

It would probably have to be a non-auto i.e. truck bypass filter if there was one available. I'm considering putting a bypass filter(non-Trasko) in place of my ff filter. I don't see why this wouldn't work since I have an internal engine bypass in my GM V8.

If there isn't a bypass filter (other than Trasko) in 13/16-16 then I'm thinking about putting a PERMACOOL ADAPTER BUSHING on the filter nipple. What is the outer thread size on these anyway?

I've heard someone post it might be 1-14.

Um it wouldnt' work because a by-pass filter is only designed for flow 1-5 gallons per minute (depeding on design and size of filter)

Therefore your engine would not be getting clean oil 100% of the time. The idea of a FF filter is that 100% of the oil flows through it before it goes into your engine to lubricate.

Get the Dual remote if you don't want to fuss with plumbing a normal stand alone by-pass.

I agree with msparks. I wouldn't depend on the engine bypass valve to perform in a way it wasn't designed to do. You could take a PermaCool sandwich adapter and go to a machine shop to get it threaded to accept an Amsoil bypass filter but I would definitely not recommend this.

The Trasko design is pretty good. IMO, it's not as good at bypass filtration as others on the market, but when you're measuring degrees of overkill it's a step in the right direction and by far the easiest to install. I've been using the Trasko for almost a year now on one of my vehicles, and I'm pretty pleased.

Another option worth considering is the CM (Canton) filter. It's not really a bypass filter, but more of a hybrid. It's not discussed too much here, but it looks like a good compromise.

I don't know of any spin on filters that clean oil that would fit your mount and be practical. I have a 40 year old Stilco spin on with 13/16 threads that is very effective but only takes about 1/2 a roll of TP. It's a mess to change. It was a beauty when it ws new with the polished aluminum fins but it wasn't practical. If a filter is of any value and practical it will have hoses to hook up.
A Perma-Cool adapter is designed to keep oil going to the engine if the oil cooler is restricted and a submicronic bypass filter is the same as a restricted oil cooler you can deal with it. With an engine with the relief valve in the engine instead of the filter Perma-Cool may not put the relief valve in the adapter. They know if the oil cooler or depth filter clogs up the relief valve will open and keep enough oil going to the engine. The problem is the oil will bypass the full flow filter. Engines that have the relief valve in the full flow filter such as most cars such as Fords, Chryslers, Toyotas, etc. will bypass the oil thru the full flow filter because the relief valve for these engines is the adapter.
The Cummins industrial engine on my web site has the relief valve in the engine instead of the filter. I had a center piece for the universal 189 adapter made to fit the Cummins. I drilled the adapter 7/32" to help the relief valve in the adapter. It wasn't necessary but didn't hurt anything. The oil pressure came up fast and the Motor Guard heats up fast so I know everything is working OK. If I had drilled the relief hole too large the Motor Guard may not have heated up and I might have been plugging the hole and drilling a smaller hole. Before installing the Motor Guard if the full flow filter clogs the pressure will drop about 10 PSI.
I set up the Dodge trucks with the Cummins to take the 3/4"-16 threads filters. The Cummins is 1"-16 threads. The adapter adds a little too much length and there is a clearance problem with the longer Cummins filter. When you screw on a Perma-Cool universal adapter and a 3/4-16 thread filter and plug the stock relief valve you are simply converting to a Ford filter system. Almost all of the filters I sell are used with the Perma-Cool adapter. Most customers don't drill the adapter or defeat the stock GM relief valve.
I have used sandwich adapters for over 20 years. I love them.
