The annual AAP 2-for-1 filter sale is back. Purolator filters for $1.44 each. Nice. This is when I do my yearly stock-up for my cars, and get a few for the inlaws too.
Here's my thing: Every few months I bring a project car home and they usually get a super-cheap oil/filter change. I was thinking, dangerous, of getting a couple extra filters in "other sizes" for the heaps that usually grace my driveway with rust droppings.
I like Saturns, hyundais, and geo prizms. The saturns I'm covered with 3614s and oversize 3600s. If I ever get a ford the 3600 fits escorts, tauruses, etc. The prizms take the 3614s as a slight oversize.
I also have a dodge dakota 2.5 that I rarely drive. Already have several AA8As and AA16s for that truck that cover the "large" 3/4x16 size that I'll probably never use. If I get a ford 5.0 or older V8 Dodge these'll fit.
For the inlaws' GM 3.8s I'll get some 3387s that also fit the 3.1s. Will hold on to a couple in case one of these follows me home. F-I-L has the new 6.0 chevy van, 3980(?) that I'll get a couple of.
My sister has an 01 hyundai accent and I bought her a few filters last year. Forget the part # but I'll get a few more.
Am wondering what semi-universal fits would also help my collection. Don't mind going oversize or even having a slightly wrong bypass pressure. Bear in mind I like cheap cars from the late 90s, and they mostly wind up being econoboxes.
BITOG gone too far: Buying the filter first, then the car to match.
