I caught part of this on the documentary channel.
Quote:
Burzynski, the Movie is the story of a medical doctor and Ph.D biochemist named Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski who won the largest, and possibly the most convoluted and intriguing legal battle against the Food & Drug Administration in American history.
You can watch the full movie at http://www.burzynskimovie.com/

You're gullible kidz Grand Prix goes to John R. Brinkley, the "goat-gland doctor" who implanted goat glands as a means of curing male impotence, helped pioneer both American and Mexican radio broadcasting, and twice ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Kansas.

Just from watching the trailer, the FDA doesn't like what he's doing so (conspiracy warning) they could be editing that page. 3) It's best to have an open mind, which is why I plan to watch it.

Yes, of course. But the movie is one-sided.. and it should not be the only source of knowledge when it comes to science, and, even more so - to medical science..

And those are the bad documentaries. smile Definition of documentary is "presenting facts objectively without editorializing or inserting fictional matter, as in a book or film." Being objective means taking the effort to present/acknowledge both sides of the story. Burzynski appears to be very much just one of these sides. Someone needs to make an anti-Burzynski movie and you should watch both of them back to back to get the whole story. smile

referring to that movie as a "documentary" really stretches the meaning of the word. For a counter-point, here's a review of the movie, from the renowned defender of drug companies and corporate culture, the Village Voice: http://www.villagevoice.com/2010-06-01/film/quack-quack-goes-burzynski/ "Burzynski violates every basic rule of ethical filmmaking: Merola interviews only Burzynski's supporters, produces no patient records other than the doctor's own, and offers no credible proof of the drug's success and no data about its side effects, even as he slams chemotherapy and radiation."

This review is a total [censored] as the moveie DOES show patient records, proof that it works (in a subset of patients with UNCURABLE brain tumors), and explains that the only side effect is dehydration. Those spin doctors didn't even bother to watch the movie.

That movie was made by FDA and played out in Texas courts for many years before Burzynski won his case and proved the allegations were all false. The Burzynski movie well explains why the FDA officials tried so har to put Burzynski in jail. Hint: some big money were involved. See my previous post on this here: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2487226&page=1

I finally had the opportunity to watch this movie. The facts, I think, are not in dispute. His results were better than the existing cancer treatments. Dr B was harassed by both State and Federal government about his treatment, which was perfectly legal in all respects. They attempted to discredit him, remove his medical license, and put him in jail. Some of his ideas were patented by a doctor that had worked for him(aka stolen), and put under the control of the FDA. The drug companies pay the FDA for drug approval and the FDA doesn't want to lose this money - neither the drug companies nor the government would get a penny from Dr. B's discovery, and they would stand to lose millions when the old cancer treatments were shown to be ineffective in contrast. Yes, he set himself up to be the sole financial beneficiary to this discovery, but that doesn't make Dr. B wrong. After that sort of treatment from the government, I wouldn't be inclined to share anything with them (or the politics and companies behind the issue) either.

Total agreement here. I used to think this guy was a crook based on the things I heard on the news over the years. After watching the movie I realized that what I used to think about Burzynski was exactly what the government wanted me to believe while they were very busy working to destroy him and steal his invention. Turns out the real crooks are out there drawing government salary but doing favors for pharma industry salivating about the future lucrative jobs they will get after retiring from a "public service". The only real mistake Burzynski made was we wanted to get rich from his invention without sharing his wealth with bureaucrats and big pharma. I wish more people would watch the movie rather than keep repeating the nonsence after being brainwashed by pharma and their cronies at FDA and the paid for news.

One need only look at what the AMA perpetrated against chiropractors to realize there are huge players in the medical field that will resort to anything to protect their 'pie'. Dr. B is one gutsy guy to stand up to the biggies. Kudos.
