Guys, take a look at the pic below first.

as you can see, the back window tint is bubbling, and this is annoying as [censored] to look at and ruins the look of the car. it is a lot worse in reality; the pic doesn't really show how bad it looks, and since that pic was taken more than an yr ago, it has gotten worse.

all other areas still look perfect.
I don't have the $$ to get a complete tint right now, and would not rather tint the back window alone, and don't want to spend $$ to do it either, right now.
(in a year or 2, I'm gonna do some exterior stuff, incl. new wheels, and then of course I will get a new tint, etc)

So, I was wondering if it will look better if i just take the [censored] tint off the back window...I know then the other windows look darker...but I think it will be less annoying than the bubbly tint on the back...it's not a very dark tint, so I guess that will also help to minimize the difference between the tinted front/side and the non-tinted back window; do you guys agree? should I do it?

if you do, how do I take the tint off? what's the correct way to do it with minimal fuss?

Thanks a lot. (PIC BELOW)

I'd personally leave the tint on that back glass until you were ready to replace it. It may look funny with the side windows tinted and not the back. You can buy the tint already cut to size and just stick it on. Otherwise, atleast here in TX, it will cost you about 40 bucks to have it redone or about $150-175 to do all the windows.

If you do decide to remove it, buy the tint remover fluid. You spray it on and it soaks to release the glue than just peels right off without residue. If you just pull it off and scrape, you'll have nasty residue and will no doubt do damage to the rear defogger grid.

I tinted the windows myself on my 1984 Honda Accord years ago, and it wasn't too difficult to do. A tint shop that I took my Geo to get tinted had to re-tint the rear window. I was told by them to let it sit out in the heat so the tint can soften up. You can also take a hair dryer to help soften the tint to help peel it away from the rear glass using a flat razor blade. Auto parts stores and Walmart carry "Window tint remover" in a bottle, to help with removal. Axiom is one of the more common brands. Be careful around the rear defroster lines, after my window was re-tinted one of the defroster lines quit working. You can buy good quality tint for relatively cheap now. Three rolls, and an all inclusive window tinting kit will set you back somewhere between $60-$85. If you're patient this is a lot cheaper than $170(Summertime special price) to $300+ depending on brand, color, mirror, and VLT (visible light transmission). Sorry for the long winded post. If it were up to me I'd give it a try; hey if you get good at it charge all of your friends. P.S. The lower the tint number the darker, in case you weren't aware.

If you want a quick solution, get a razor blade, spray bottle with H20 and a little baby shampoo, and a credit card or small squeegee.

Cut a slit in the bubble, spray the solution on it, then wipe it with the squeegee.

This will get rid of the bubble, and get you by till you have $$ for a new tint job.

Good luck
